AmericasBank
was formed in 1996 by group of business people seeking to fill the
void left by the mergers and acquisitions that had rocked Baltimore's
banking industry. While several venerable local institutions remain,
many of Baltimore's largest have been merged out of existence, forever
severing the strong ties that existed between those banks and their
customers.
AmericasBank
was founded on the premise that bigger is not better for everyone.
The efficiencies and convenience of todays megabanks are typically
outweighed by the frustrations of dealing with these large bureaucratic
and impersonal corporations. The personal service and relationship
banking advertised by these megabanks can rarely be found in their
branches or customer service operations.
Our board of
directors, managers, and employees believe that as a bank grows
larger, its relationship with its customers usually grows weaker.
We also believe that personalized, customized and simplified solutions
come from listening and understanding. So instead of trying to be
all things to all people, we have chosen to focus on the customers
we can serve best.
At AmericasBank,
our focus is on local businesses and more specifically, businesses
that do not have large borrowing needs. Our market research shows
that community businesses have historically been under-served by
the megabanks. The investment of time and resources required to
serve this market simply does not fit into the megabanks bottom
line. Leaving them ill-equipped to sit down and share the small
business customers aspirations, challenges, and even nightmares,
much less provide solutions.
While AmericasBank
gives special attention to the overlooked small business market,
we have by no means abandoned the consumer market. We realize that
technology has successfully replaced much of the personal interaction
in retail banking. Yet AmericasBank is more than happy to provide
personalized, customized and simplified banking to anyone who values
human interaction and a personal relationship with their bankers.
