Headquartered
in Towson, MD, AmericasBank is a commercial bank dedicated to supporting
the growth and prosperity of the Baltimore community with a special
focus on small businesses. AmericasBank has offices in both Towson
and Baltimore, MD to provide unparalleled personalized service and
convenience.
Our history
dates back to June 10, 1927, when La Corona Building and Loan Association,
Inc. was formed to meet the financial needs of the neighboring Highlandtown
and East Baltimore residents. The founders chose the name "La
Corona," which means "The Crown" in Italian, to recognize
the local Italian population and its major employerCrown Cork
and Seal. In 1987, La Corona was purchased and renamed Rushmore
Trust and Savings, FSB.
AmericasBank
Corp. was incorporated on June 4, 1996 and subsequently purchased
the assets and assumed the deposit liabilities of Rushmore Trust
and Savings. The Bank officially began operating as AmericasBank
on December 1, 1997. In 1998, we purchased an 80-year-old building
in Towson, MD, Baltimore Countys seat, to serve as our headquarters.
We also have a branch location in the Highlandtown community in
Baltimore City.
In 2007 we introduced our two
Community banking centers, Towson Community Bank and Annapolis
Community Bank.
Each banking
center is independently-operated and marketed under its own trade
name as a division of AmericasBank.
We believe that small,
independently-operated community banking centers can provide the
personal service and common sense solutions not offered by larger
banks.
